The Leftovers

The Great Northern Railway has disappeared. The train line that once served the people of Dundalk, the Cooley Peninsula and Newry was torn up.

Remnants of the line can still be seen, but they’re fading away. Retracing the route of the Great Northern Railway took me across rivers, through herds of sheep, to many dead ends and across the landscape of where I’m from.

By scraping away the layers of my home, I’m getting to know the place better and seeing more of the whole picture. This is less of an adventure to see different things, but more of an adventure to see things differently.
